All hangars are not created equal, I've come to discover.
I had an experience that drove this point home for me. I was digging in the back of my closet to find an old heavy coat that had been back there for a while, and when I found it, I discovered that the cheap plastic hanger it was hanging on had broken. It looked like the weight of the coat had pushed it down so far that it snapped. Not a huge deal I suppose, but still annoying.
So plastic hangers won't always break like that under lighter weight clothes, but they sure are ugly. After my incident, I decided to buy a bunch of wooden top hangers in a light wood color. My closet has never looked better.
Everything hangs at the same level, there aren't any weird plastic hangar colors that clash with my clothes, and none of them will bend or break. It's like my top hanger filled closet belongs in some fancy department store now. Except for the fact that I only wish I had all those nice fancy department store clothes. But oh well.
I highly recommend that everyone go out and get some of these nice top hangers. You will love not having to deal with the junky mess of plastic or wiry hangers. Throw those in the trash where they belong and get some good top hangers that will make your close look good.
